Oxaliplatin Combined with Bolus Chemotherapy Improves Survival in Stage II or III Colorectal Cancer
The combination of oxaliplatin and bolus fluorouracil and leucovorin leads to a borderline increase in overall survival and improved disease-free survival (DFS) compared with the chemotherapy regimen alone in patients with stage II or III carcinoma of the colon. In addition, bevacizumab given in conjunction with modified combination fluorouracil and leucovorin and oxaliplatin (mFOLFOX6) has been found to be safe as post-operative adjuvant therapy for patients with stage II/III colorectal cancer, although efficacy data are lacking.
