Novel Targeting Therapy for Melanoma

An antisense nucleotide oblimersen that targets Bcl-2 mRNA and inhibits its action can be used to prevent the antiapoptotic action of Bcl-2 in melanoma patients. A combination of oblimersen and the chemotherapeutic drug dacarbazine is found to perform better in improving survival of these patients.
