CW September 2006Issue Number 9 September 2006 ISSN 10593802 NSAID and Colon CancerEpidemiological studies have indicated that there was a decreased risk of colon cancer among people who have regularly taken nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin or cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 inhibitors. However, these agents have serious adverse side effects, producing major obstacles for large-scale application to cancer prevention. Therefore, more studies in understanding the molecular mechanism of these drugs will help in designing preventive strategies.
