A New Biomarker for Prostate Cancer

The expression of macrophage migration inhibitory factor, a cytokine, is elevated in prostate cancer and is an independent predictor for metastasis. Elevated levels of this biomarker in men may reduce the number of biopsies in determining prostate cancer.
