CW July 2006Issue Number 7 July 2006 ISSN 10593802 Cetuximab plus Capecitabine and Oxaliplatin in Metastatic Colorectal CancerCetuximab (Erbitux®, Imclone/Merck GaA), a highly active IgG1 monoclonal antibody that specifically targets the epidermal growth factor (EGF), in combination with the chemotherapeutic agents oxaliplatin (Eloxatin®, Sanofi Aventis) and capecitabine (Xeloda®, Roche) provides interesting efficacy results without compromising safety, providing a new option in the first-line treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer, according to data from a clinical trial presented at the 42nd Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
