Novartis Submits Applications for Gleevec Treatment of 4 Rare Types of Cancer

Novartis completed submissions in United States and Europe for imatinib mesylate (Gleevec) as treatment for four rare types of cancer. The research program based on Gleevec-sensitive pathways in multiple rare disorders exemplifies the future direction of targeted cancer diagnosis and treatment. These regulatory submissions reflect continued commitment to identifying new therapies for patients with rare diseases who have limited treatment options.
