A radioactive tracing agent that specifically accumulates in the sentinel lymph node is being developed by Neoprobe Corporation. Animal study has indicated that administration of this agent prior to surgical removal of the primary tumor can identify the sentinel node very quickly and can be removed for pathological analysis.
