Treatment Change for Pre-Leukemic Disease

Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), if progressed, can lead to blood cell cancer. New research suggests that the hypomethylating agent decitabine can improve the quality-of-life of these patients, and a longer course of a mild form of this chemotherapy may be helpful in bringing hematologic improvement.
