Blood-Based Test for Breast Cancer

There is urgent need for sensitive screening blood tests for cancer. Since the cancer-related proteins are in low abundance in serum, the reproducibility of the procedure is critical. Proteomics techniques are being refined and are applied to identify biomarkers for breast cancer in serum. Preliminary results suggest that there is great potential of developing blood tests for early cancer detection.
