Stromal cell-derived factor-1 and its receptor CXCR4 are involved in the spread of cancer cells as well as stimulating angiogenesis in tumors. Receptor antagonists are being developed that can prevent cancer cell growth by inhibiting angiogenesis and can prevent its spread.
