Opioid-induced Symptoms in Advanced Cancer Patients

For cancer patients with severe pain, a rapid increase in an opioid dose relieves pain significantly. Though certain adverse effects are produced by opioid treatment, the same adverse effects may be associated with poor pain control. Dose escalation in opioid treatment does not seem to produce changes in certain symptoms such as weakness , nausea, and vomiting as well as confusion and appetite.
