A Growth Factor Prepares Niche for Metastasis

A common factor may be responsible for the generation of a pre-metastatic ?hot spot? at a designated site in the body determined by the specific type of cancer. This common factor is a type of stem cell present in bone marrow, which is stimulated by growth factor secreted by the tumor cells.
