In immunedeficient blood cancer patients who undergo aggressive chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation, bacterial infection can be prevented as early as within three months of transplantation if bacterial vaccine therapy is combined with a T-cell vaccine. This combined treatment would rebuild the patients? own immune system.
