A Tumor Suppressor Protein with a Split Personality

A tumor suppressor protein, menin, acts as an oncoprotein and works with another oncoprotein, mutated MLL, in acute leukemia. In laboratory experiments, when menin is removed from the leukemic cells, the cancer disappeared and the cells revert back to normal without the destruction of any cancer cells.
