Activated Vitamin D and NSAIDs Act Together to Kill Prostate Cancer Cells

Vitamin D is converted in the liver and kidney to its activated form, calcitriol, a hormone that has many actions in the body, including effects on prostaglandin metabolism. Prostaglandins are known to stimulate prostate cancer cell growth. Calcitriol is found to have antiproliferative and pro-differentiation effects in prostate cancer.
