Novel Therapy Helps Some MDS Patients Avoid Blood Transfusions

Lenalidomide, an oral drug similar in structure to thalidomide, is highly active for myelodysplastic disease patients with a deletion of chromosome 5q31, and is the first effective therapy for this specific subtype of disease.
