CW June 2005Issue Number 6 June 2005 ISSN 10593802 Blood Test for Thyroid Cancer Reveals Recurrence EarlyRecurrence of thyroid cancer is indicated if thyroglobulin (Tg), a protein produced by thyroid cancer cells, is detected after complete ablation of the gland and treatment with radioactive iodine. Therefore, thyroid cancer patients who have been treated for the disease should be examined regularly for early signs of recurrence.
