Adding Bevacizumab Improves Response Rates

A metastatic colorectal cancer clinical trial (TREE-2) adding bevacizumab (Avastin, Genentech) to each of 3 chemotherapy regimens tested in a prior trial (TREE-1) found the addition of bevacizumab to be well tolerated and to improve overall response rate (ORR) in each case. Bevacizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal IgG1 antibody that binds to and inhibits the biologic activity of human vascular endothelial growth factor.
