HR+ Early Breast Cancer: Switch To Anastrozole After Two Years of Tamoxifen

Clinical investigators researched the effects in postmenopausal women with hormone receptor positive early breast cancer of sequential treatment with anastrozole (Arimidex, AstraZeneca) following adjuvant tamoxifen therapy. They conclude that switching to anastrozole after 2 years is more effective than continuing on tamoxifen. Because prespecified criteria for event-free survival were met, the Independent Data Monitoring Committee recommended closing recruitment and notifying all patients of the results.
