CW March 2005Issue Number 3 March 2005 ISSN 10593802 Berries in Colon Cancer PreventionMany epidemiological as well as laboratory and animal studies have been conducted to determine the effect of dietary nutrients on cancer risk. Fruits and berries contain varieties of phytochemicals with antiproliferative effects. When extracts from berries are tested on cancer cell lines, inhibition of cell growth has been observed. This inhibition is concentration dependent and is also correlated with levels of some antioxidants.
