CW February 2005Issue Number 2 February 2005 ISSN 10593802 Fulvestrant is Active in Progressive Metastatic Breast Cancer After Aromatase Inhibitor TherapyIn postmenopausal women with metastatic breast cancer that has progressed despite therapy with a third-generation aromatase inhibitor, the selective estrogen receptor downregulator fulvestrant (Faslodex, AstraZeneca) has definite antitumor activity. This finding is the result of a clinical trial presented at the 27th Annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. Fulvestrant is currently approved for women in whom disease has progressed following therapy with an antiestrogen.
