CW January 2005Issue Number 1 January 2005 ISSN 10593802 Imaging Lymph Nodes with NanoparticlesBiocompatible magnetic nanosensors have been designed that can detect molecular interactions in biological systems. When these nanoparticles interact with the target, they send out specific signals and can be detected by magnetic resonance (NMR/MRI) techniques. Nanoparticles designed to concentrate in cancerous lymphoid tissue have been successfully tracked. This technique is non-invasive and very specific and sensitive.
