CW January 2005Issue Number 1 January 2005 ISSN 10593802 Chemotherapy Plus Targeted Therapy Superior for Adult Acute Lymphoblastic LeukemiaDespite intensive chemotherapy, preferably followed by allogenic stem cell transplantation (SCT), the prognosis of adult patients with Philadelphia-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ALL) is poor. Adding imatinib to first-line treatment may improve efficacy and outcome and reduce the occurrence of imatinib-resistance. However, it has not yet been established how imatinib is best incorporated in the front-line treatment of Ph+ALL.
