Breast Cancer-Treatment Bone Loss Countered with Zoledronic Acid

Breast cancer treatment-induced bone loss (CTIBL) increases with treatment duration and is more severe when anastrozole (ANA)(Arimidex, AstraZeneca) is used in combination with goserelin. Zoledronic acid (Zometa, Novartis), a bisphosphonate, effectively counteracts that bone loss, according to study results presented at the 27th Annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.
