Stem Cell Transplant in Leukemia Patients may Prolong Recovery

A Stem cell transplant in cancer patients is an aggressive treatment and is generally only used when standard therapies fail. The procedure to administer cell transplant can have serious physical side effects such as repeated infections, lung problems, osteoporosis, and rejection of the transplanted cells if they come from a donor and not the patients themselves.
