New Clinical Trial Launched for Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer

AstraZeneca has launched a new clinical trial for patients with Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) that uses gefitinib (IRESSA), which inhibits the epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase. The purpose of this trial is to determine whether the anti-cancer activity and toxicity of this drug is acceptable so that it might be considered as a replacement for chemotherapeutic agent in advanced NSCLC patients.
