Watch for Fracture Risk in Prostate Cancer

Widely used androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) increases the risk of fractures by 40% in men with non-metastatic prostate cancer, according to an analysis of Medicare claims data of more than 11,000 men. Bone mineral density (BMD) measurements can assess when to intervene with intravenous bisphosphonates, the most potent being zoledronic acid (Zometa).
