Selective Enzyme Inhibitor Prevents Esophageal Cancer

Nitric oxide, a small endogenous molecule that is produced from an amino acid by an enzyme is thought to be associated in cancer development. A selective inhibitor of this enzyme prevents chemically-induced esophageal cancer in animal models. Because the nitric oxide synthesizing enzyme is overexpressed in some human cancers, the inhibitors of this enzyme might also be useful in preventing human cancer.
