CW April 2004Issue Number 4 April 2004 ISSN 10593802 Follow-Up After Cancer: What Matters, and WhenStudies suggest that when disease recurs in patients with head and neck cancer, it is the patients themselves and not their physicians who are more likely to first recognize that something is wrong. This may be surprising, but more surprising is the fact that the patients who think something is wrong do not report to their physicians right away. They wait until the next appointment. This might delay their treatment. However, it is not established whether this short delay would ultimately affect the patient?s outcome.
