Alternative Medicines Interact with Conventional Cancer Therapies

Place the search term ?alternative cancer? into Google, and you will get 3 million hits, the vast majority to promote or sell a wide variety of materials, vitamins, substances, and regimens. The food supplement market is now a $16 billion industry in the United States, and is the fastest growing segment of the over-the-counter drug market. It?s no wonder that at least 80% of cancer patients use special diets, vitamins, herbs or acupuncture, most of them for their general health, but up to half of them to treat cancer.
