Volume 13Issue Number 3 March 2004 ISSN 10593802 GIST Task Force Report Cites Revolutionary Therapy with ImatinibThe National Comprehensive Cancer Network recently updated its Sarcoma Guidelines to include a subsection regarding the treatment of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). The report states that GIST is one area of medicine where the standard of practice has been affected rapidly and dramatically by the introduction of effective molecularly targeted therapy, in this case with imatinib.
