Risk of Cancer from Diagnostic X-rays

It is well established that diagnostic X-rays can save lives. Though there are definite benefits from the use of X-rays, it should be acknowledged that it also involves some risk, especially an increased risk of cancer. It would be helpful if one could determine the threshold dose under which there is no cancer risk. Though there is no safe threshold dose for radiation, there are also no reliable data proving that diagnostic radiation can cause cancer. However, it is wise to avoid unnecessary X-ray procedures.
