New Long-term Strategy to Deliver Hormone Therapy to Prostate Cancer Patients

To maintain testosterone concentration to the castrate level, continuous delivery of a hormone analogue is needed. A new formulation of leprolide acetate that can achieve this is Viadur. This agent is released by an implantable minipump and can maintain the drug level to a constant concentration for one year. For continuous therapy, the implant needs to be changed once a year.
