CW February 2004Issue Number 2 February 2004 ISSN 10593802 Multi-Gene Assay Predicts Breast Cancer Recurrence RiskA large clinical trial has validated the predictive power of an assay designed to assess recurrence risk in patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer. The assay, which tests for the presence of 20 genes in tissue samples, is designed for use in women with node negative, estrogen receptor positive (N-, ER+) disease who have been treated with tamoxifen, according to a presentation at the 26th Annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.
