CW December 2000Issue Number 12 December 2000 ISSN 10593802 Intrauterine Contraceptive May Protect Endometrium from Tamoxifen EffectTamoxifen, a very popular adjuvant treatment for breast cancer may be recommended for chemoprevention. However, it frequently causes unscheduled uterine bleeding, which could be due to its estrogenic effect on uterine tissue causing proliferation or even cancer. An intra-uterine device releasing progestagen is found to prevent this effect of tamoxifen on uterine tissue.
