Modified Interleukin 2 Reduces its Toxicity

The natural cytokine interleukin 2 is used in cancer patients to stimulate immune cells. This anti-cancer treatment produces severe toxicity probably by natural killer (NK) cells. A variant form of interleukin 2 can specifically interact with activated T cells over natural killer cell and produce lesser severe side effects.
