CW October 2000Issue Number 10 October 2000 ISSN 10593802 V-Echinocandin Shows Promise Against Esophageal CandidiasisResults from a recent clinical trial, presented at the 40th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy held in Toronto, Ontario, September 17-20, 2000, indicate that V-Echinocardin (VEC), the first of a new class of antifungal agents known as the echinocandins, has great promise in the treatment of esophageal candidiasis.
