Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs and Cancer

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), aspirin in particular, have a long, distinguished service record in medicine. Their analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects have been and are still used and abused on a grand scale. In the last two decades, the results from extensive observational research and several clinical trials have added another effect from NSAIDs, that of chemoprotection against gastrointestinal and perhaps other cancers.
