However, a recent report of promising results from a Phase II Study has given renewed optimism to those using gene therapy to develop treatments for cancer. The development of novel oncolytic viruses presents an attractive gene delivery system which offers both selectivity and efficiency. Combining gene therapy with more conventional chemotherapy creates powerful synergy in treating cancer patients.
