CW January 2000Issue Number 1 January 2000 ISSN 10593802 An Alternative Strategy to Halt Ovarian Cancer Cell GrowthTumor growth promoting effect of a gene can be counterbalanced by gene therapy that introduces a tumor suppressor gene. Expression of the tumor suppressor gene is found to stimulate apoptosis as well as cell division arrest. The effect observed in cell culture system suggests that this gene therapy strategy may be significant in treating ovarian cancer that does not respond very well to various chemotherapeutic agents.
