Gene Expression Profiling Helps Predict Remissions in Pediatric ALL

A novel, fully cloned human gene can help identify children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) who may achieve remission or fail current therapeutic regimens, allowing doctors to tailor therapies to individual patients. The results of a study of 254 ALL cases found that 87% of pediatric patients who expressed the cloned gene achieved long-term remission, compared to only 32% of those who had low gene expression.
