ATRA/Arsenic Trioxide Combination for Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia

All-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) (Vesanoid®, Roche) in combination with arsenic trioxide (Trisenox®, cti) for remission/maintenance therapy is highly effective in newly diagnosed patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), resulting in a much better quality of molecular complete remission (CR) and a significantly enhanced period of disease-free survival, according to a study presented at the 45th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Hematology.
