NASA Technology Eases Cancer Pain

The light produced by light-emitting diodes has many applications, from electronic clock displays to jumbo TV screens, but it also has medical applications. Light emitted by these diodes can stimulate growth of living cells and can repair injuries. This light source has been tested in pediatric bone marrow transplant patients who develop ulceration of the mouth due to aggressive chemotherapy.
