Fish Oil Supplements in Cancer Patients with Cachexia

Certain essential fatty acids (w-3 fatty acids) present in fish, such as salmon and herring may possess anticachectic properties and improve the quality of life in advanced cancer patients. Cachexia is a complex, body-wasting syndrome observed in many cancer patients that is characterized by excessive weight loss complicated by metabolic dysfunction.
