Bacterial Troops Join War against Cancer

Potent bacterial toxins can be modified to be used in various ways to specifically target cancer cells. One such engineered toxin is approved for use to treat recurrent cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. Several other toxins are under investigation to treat patients with colon, breast, ovarian, lung cancer, and hematologic cancer.
