CW August 2003Issue Number 8 August 2003 ISSN 10593802 Breast Cancer Trial with Erythropoietin TerminatedA randomized study to evaluate the effect of erythropoietin in preventing anemia among metastatic breast cancer patient with normal hemoglobin who were undergoing chemotherapy was halted abruptly. The reason was that more adverse effects were observed in the erythropoietin treated group compared to the placebo treated one and during the early period of the study more death was recorded in the erythropoietin group.
