Patient Compliance and Free Will in Judaism

Managed health care and holistic medicine are increasingly shaping our con-ception of rights and obligations as a patient. The US legislature is still laboring on a Patient?s Bill of Rights that will only add to litigations, supporting the legal profession but not helping the sick. The position of Judaism, the oldest monotheistic religion, on health should enlarge and deepen our perspective, if only to see different facets of an age-old picture in a different way. Things are never as bad or as good as we make them out to be.
