COX-2 Inhibitors Combined with Radiation Therapy Show Promise as Lung Cancer Treatment

Adding celecoxib to chemoradiotherapy appears to be a promising way to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Several phase II trials combining celecoxib with radiation therapy, either alone or with chemotherapy, are assessing the role of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors as potential radiosensitizers.
