CW November 2002Issue Number 11 November 2002 ISSN 10593802 Smoking History Predicts Colon PolypsThe modifiable risk factor of smoking is just as important as the non-modifiable risk factor of family history for predicting who will develop colon polyps. An analysis of the medical records of more than 1,700 consecutive patients who had a screening colonoscopy found that the incidence of polyps was higher among current smokers than ex-smokers or non-smokers.
