CW November 2002Issue Number 11 November 2002 ISSN 10593802 Blood Vessel Leakiness in CancerTumor angiogenesis has been paid increasing attention in the last decade, with research focused on its prevention or inhibition. There is general consensus that tumor blood vessels are abnormal, of irregular diameter and branching and with thin walls. Only recently, the defective vascular endothelium has been associated with leakiness which obviously influences the internal environment, access of antibodies and drug delivery to tumors. The study of blood vessel barriers and that of tumor angiogenesis has finally entered a partnership.
